Hello sir,

It's a great initiative by academic section.

One thing I would like to suggest is, Make an app for SARAL.

1.Easy to give app notifications of classes as per schedule.

2.Logging in over a website for every time someone has to use SARAL would be hectic and it'll decrease its usage, here also, having an app where user is already logged in all the time will promote the use.

3.Academic notifications and official notices would be easy to send over SARAL app. Then we won't require host section to forward notices to student's rooms.

4. We can add one column for suggestions/complaints to hostel section in app. It would result in easy and strict monitoring by superintendent/chief warden ma'am about sanitation/security/food problems. Where students can report their issues online.

5. After sometime of testing the app, We can extend the app to add notices/results/schedules of exam section also. Which are currently being posted at aiimsexams.org

Feedback on SARAL

To

Academic Section

AIIMS, Delhi

Thank you for the opportunity to contribute by feedback.

Very good initiative and well planned system. Pleasant in appearance and user friendly.

I request the following to be added

Semester wise time table so we know what time the students are supposed to report for clinical postings

Roll numbers of students for postings including interns

Contact information of class representative or academic section coordinator and a facility to upload attendance sheet of the clinical posting attendees.

Presently it is functioning as an advanced platform for accessing resources and facilitating learning. We need to think what type of advanced resources or advanced learning material we must contribute which is not already available to the students from other sources to make it more meaningful and attractive.

Once again, I wish to covey that it is very useful and a praiseworthy beginning.

Best wishes

Radhika

Good initiative.

I wonder, can we not have all this on AIIMS Home Page under academic section. What is benefit of having another url for saral.

From current SARAL plateform, if we go to another menu, then there is no way to come to home page of SARAL. I need to click back.. Back again and again to reach home page of SARAL.

I am not sure that putting the slides or content of lecture, before the lecture is a good idea.

Issue will come once we start using it in real life situation.

Respected Sir

The platform looks good.

I was wondering whether CCR, CGR topics can be added on the calendar of this platform.

Also, is there a plan to add the teaching/academic schedule of super-specialties (DM/ MCh) ?

Thanks

Congratulations on the comprehensive platform:

I went through the manual and the Second Semester course for UG MBBS students.

I have added resources to the lecture assigned to me:

The presentation of my lecture in .pptx format

A short quiz.

I was wondering:

1- VPN access

2- Student access

3- Copyright of material uploaded

4- Watermarking of material

5- Access to this material to outsiders

Have these been considered and decisions related?

It is good initiative but needs training for the teacher as well as the students for its effective use.

Students must be encouraged or incentivised (like awarding marks or grade in their assessment) to use it.

I tried to make a quiz for the students as trial but couldn't. Probably some training or hand-holding is required.

This is a great initiative.

Perhaps the following could be considered in the updates:

1. Content accessible to all AIIMSONIANS, and not just people attending that particular lecture.

2. Video lectures uploaded for any batch to see repeatedly. It will not reduce the attendance, contrary to belief. It will only increase knowledge, assuming that that is the reason for compulsory attendance.

3. Updates of other non academic workshops happening at AIIMS on the dashboard.

4. Some point based system to encourage participation on the website. Points for performance in quizzes, points for participating in discussions, upvotes for solving someone's doubts etc etc. For example, the point based badge system in Khan Academy.

5. Better interface to discuss doubts. Perhaps a newsfeed for all ongoing discussions. Or a doubts tab.

Very good initiative. The array of tools is vast. I had a few questions.

1. How big can the attachment be and how long will it be stored for?

2. Is there any way to make the feedback anonymous from the students?

3. Can the calendar also incorporate a daily/weekly view which will make it much easier to use?

4. As of now, I can edit all classes in our department schedule. Hopefully that feature would be locked in the future.

5. We have an extensive PG course for our MD/MSc/PhD students. Can that also be incorporated into the system as a separate module?

6. The grading appears to be quite complicated. This will require a lot of discussion with the particular departmental faculties and customization.

7. Is Saral hosted locally? It takes a lot of time to move from one module to another? Slow server issues?

Minor suggestion would be make the site more professional looking :)

Overall a great initiative from the academic section and a nice platform to build on.

Dear Sir / Madam,

The speed of the whole programme is very slow. In INBOX it takes almost 3 minutes in opening a mail / file.

May I request you to look into the matter. It may prove to be a great initiative, but only if its speed is high and the user's feed-back is attended so that it becomes better and further useful.

With regards,
